"The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.”
–Rom. 10:8
–Rom. 10:8
The lector proclaims the Good News of Jesus Christ, making God present to the gathered community. Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Sunday and weekday Masses and other liturgical celebrations. Lectors prepare well – reading and re-reading the passage, rehearsing both at home and in the church, and, most important, using the Scripture for personal prayer so that it truly is not only in their mouths, but in their hearts. Lectors receive a workbook containing the readings for the liturgical season as a resource in their preparation. Adults and youth who have received the sacrament of confirmation are invited to serve.
Requirements
